Hornek's work in installation, video and photography stages a dialogue between the industrial and digital revolution, discussing tensions between growth and construction, control and uncertainty, geo-engineering and climate change. The talk will focus on her recent work from a book project which was composed of all the title pages of books on plastic in the Los Angeles Central Public Library (2013); to an exhibition, Mission W, in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Wienerwald (Viennese Woods); to her current work for “Plastic Entanglements: Ecology, Aesthetics, Materials," at the Palmer Museum in fall, 2017.
